Nursing Services

Our nurses provide general nursing services such as blood testing, blood pressure readings, vaccinations and immunisations, simple wound dressings, wound care follow up from secondary care procedures, leg ulcer treatment, non-urgent ECG’s, cervical smears, NHS health checks, weight management support and clinics, smoking cessation, travel advice clinics, childhood immunisations etc.

They also offer disease management clinics for long-term conditions such as Asthma/COPD, Diabetes, Heart Disease and Hypertension.

Child Health Clinics

You may bring your child for their 8 week check with a doctor followed by their first immunisations with the nurse. Appointments for these clinics are made via reception. If you have a child under the age of five who needs to be seen by a doctor please ask reception if there are any available appointments.

Counselling

If you have a problem which requires counselling, please see your doctor who can make the necessary arrangements through the Community Mental Health Team.

Maternity Services

For Maternity Services or to book an antenatal appointment please contact the midwives on 01476 464334. They are based at Grantham District Hospital.

Sexual Health Services

We offer a full range of emergency contraceptive services. It is fully confidential and advice is available through our normal routes; by phone, open surgery appointment, booked appointment or nurse appointment where appropriate. Emergency contraception is most effective the sooner it is accessed, please do not wait unnecessarily, contact us and discuss.

Regular and repeat contraception consultations and prescriptions are undertaken through the NHS Pharmacy First programme. Please contact a member of our team if you would like a referral to this service.

Sexual Health Services are also available at the Genito-Urinary Medicine Department at Grantham Hospital. For a GUM appointment, please ring the centralised booking number on 01522 539145. Alternatively, there are open access clinics. To find out when these are held please ring 01476 464 755.

Treatment Room - wound care

Patients requiring Treatment Room services for wound care can be seen here by one of our Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistants.

Treatment Room appointments include:

  • If you come out of hospital with stitches or clips in a wound that need to be removed
  • If you have a dressing on a wound that needs replacing
  • If you have a complex wound, infected wound or a cavity wound

Your local Urgent Treatment Centre or Minor Injury service will see you for Treatment Room services

  • Any wound that is from a minor injury that occurred within the last 48 hours

Severe Mental Illness - Annual Physical Health Checks

Annual health checks for people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or psychosis

If you have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or psychosis, you are entitled to a free Annual Physical Health Check at our practice.

This check helps monitor your physical health and can help to spot any problems early, so you can get the right support as soon as possible.

 It also gives you the opportunity to talk about your wellbeing and any medication side effects.

Appointments usually last 30–45 minutes, and you can bring someone with you if that helps.
